Empowering Educators: Utah Tech’s Annual Chemistry & Physical Science Teacher Workshop

Every spring, the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Utah Tech University welcomes Chemistry and Physical Science teachers from across the region for a one-of-a-kind professional development experience. Held at the Science, Engineering, and Technology Building, this event provides teachers with hands-on lab demonstrations led by Chemistry Instructors Jared Hancock and Megan Liljenquist.

A Hands-On Approach to Science Education

Science education thrives on discovery, and this workshop is designed to bring that spirit of experimentation and innovation into the classroom. Teachers step into the lab as learners, exploring engaging experiments that they can later share with their students. By working directly with university faculty and state-of-the-art equipment, participants gain new techniques, insights, and resources to enhance their teaching.

Professional Development with Lasting Impact

In addition to gaining valuable classroom-ready lessons, teachers who attend this workshop earn professional development credits, furthering their expertise and credentials. The event also fosters collaboration and networking among educators, creating a supportive community dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists.

Why Attend?

  • Engaging Lab Demonstrations: Learn from experienced university instructors.
  • Hands-On Learning: Participate in experiments designed for real classroom application.
  • Professional Development Credits: Advance your career while enhancing your teaching methods.
  • Collaborative Experience: Connect with fellow educators and share best practices.
